Nothing says fall to me like home-made caramels and popcorn balls. When we were little we used to go trick or treating, and we always made sure to go to Merle Eastham’s house. She always gave out her homemade popcorn balls and we loved them! I never knew how to make them until I had Home Ec in school, and Mrs. Pittman taught us how to make them. Thank you Mrs Pittman! The key to making popcorn balls is to avoid overcooking the syrup. You want the popcorn to stick together, but just barely. No one likes a popcorn ball that sticks like glue to their teeth. Bought popcorn balls are terrible! Do not even go there. Popcorn balls should be soft, gooey, and sweet!
