Mom got a new sewing machine! One that does embroidery! I think I may be more excited than she is! I love projects that have appliqué. I couldn’t wait to try it out, so decided to make a Valentine’s day table runner. I decided I would go with a gray background, and then use red, burgundy, and pink as my accent colors. I started out with a 12 inch gray square, then added 3 inch burgundy borders. To this I added 5 inch gray strips to make the final border. To make the quilt sandwich I added the quilt batting and a white fabric for the backing.
Then I added appliqué hearts in the corners. I bought these designs from a shop called Garden of Daisies Embroidery on Etsy.
Then I put the word love in the center of each outer border. I bought this design from Trendy Stitch Designs on Etsy.
Then I just used a decorative heart stitch to add an extra border in the center square. I stippled the entire project and then added a 1 3/4 inch border to the outside. I loved the way it turned out. I’m thinking I may need a St Patrick’s Day table runner as well. I’d better call Mom and tell her I’ll be down.
